According to Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education, below are the required skills and abilities for different levels in HSK.
Able to understand basic language materials and engage in effective social communication. Capable of expressing limited topics related to daily life, study, work, and social interactions. Can organize short paragraphs using common sentence patterns to complete simple communicative tasks. Utilizes basic communication strategies to assist in daily expression. Possesses preliminary understanding of Chinese cultural knowledge and basic cross-cultural communication abilities. Upon completing the elementary stage, should have mastered 608 syllables, 900 Chinese characters, 2245 words, and 210 grammar points, and be able to write 300 Chinese characters.
